Morton's Neuroma
A Neuroma is a tumor or new growth largely made up of nerve cells and nerve fibers; a tumor growing from a nerve. Typically, the bones squeezing a nerve between the 3rd and 4th metatarsal heads leads to the "inflammation" or "growth" of the Neuroma. Symptoms of Morton's Neuroma often occur after placing excessive amounts of force on the forefoot by running, jumping or simply from ill fitting and/or non supportive footwear.
Treatment: Selection of properly fitted footwear to your foot type and shape as well as having a stable slightly rocked outer-sole will assist in easing the pain and discomfort. Orthotics are another option if footwear alone will not solve the problem. |
