Fungus
Fungus is a general term used to describe a group of single celled organisms, including mushrooms, yeasts, rusts, molds, smuts, etc. which are characterized by the absence of chlorophyll and by the presence of a rigid cell wall composed of chitin, and sometimes cellulose.
Cause: Chemical abnormalities, improperly fitted footwear, synthetic footwear, excessively wet areas whether from perspiration or other sources, injury, accidents, poor circulation and gangrene are some of the causes of fungus. |
Treatment: Depending upon the type of the fungus and the spread or infection of the fungus will determine how the physician feels it should best be treated. There are internal and external treatments with many types of medications. You should never attempt to treat fungus without the advice and direction of a physician.
